Laragh Utd Club Notes 01/07/2012

The Seniors had a tough test against Templeport on Saturday evening last. It was a very  exciting game and both teams gave it their all. However Laragh upped tempo in the second half and pushed on to win 2-11 to 3-04 with big scores coming from Conal Donohoe, Adrian Cooney, Paddy Rudden and Shane O Rourke. The backs worked hard and defended well keeping Templeport at bay who liked to run at the defence. Phil Fitzmons and Cieran Donohoe were introduced in the first half due to Paddy Smith and Liam Brady picking up injuries and they gave fantastic performances in the half back and full back lines. The team is really working well together and a really good atmosphere and attitude is hopefully going to lead to an exciting championship campaign. The Seniors are out again next Saturday the 7th July against Ballymachugh in Stradone at 6:30pm

The juniors were out last week against Redhills and came away from a high scoring game 1-19 to 2-14. The lads played very well and gave it their all with high scores coming from Noel Smith 1-06 and Conal Donohoe 0-05.  Derck Hand, Colm Smith, Kevin O Rourke and Brian Carolan played particularly well fighting for their place in the senior setup. The juniors are out this Saturday as well, they also play Ballymachugh after the senior game at 8:00pm.

The Laragh United u14 squad reached the semi-final in their Feile 2012 campaign after winning all three games in their group stages and topping their group they advanced to the semi-final stage on the Sunday but were unlucky and lost out narrowly to an English side. The team and their mentors should be extremely proud of their achievement and for what they have done for our club in bringing such excitement, pride, and interest to the entire set up. Also a massive well done to Eoghan Cooney who came second in the overall Skills competition at Feile 2012, this was a massive personal achievement and one to be proud of for life.

Congratulations to the U13 side and their mentors whom have reached the Division 1 u13 championship final. This is again a fantastic achievement for the players and their mentors. This group of players many of whom featured in the successful u14 side had a fantastic championship campaign beating Bailieboro in the first round, Dernacrive Gaels in the quarter final and then Kingscourt in the semi-final on Thursday evening last. All at Laragh United are extremely proud and excited about this group of players and wish them the very best of luck and success in the final against Gowna which takes place on Wednesday 4th July at 7:30pm in Kingspan Breffini Park. The very best of luck lads!!!
