Laragh United open campaign with a win

Seniors: Our seniors got off to a winning start defeating Drumalee 3-11 to 1-11 at cold and blustery Drumalee on Sunday morning. Two early goals by Gerry Murray and Oisin Carolan gave Laragh an early lead that they never lost. Laragh went on to be the better team in the first half and were leading at half time 2-8 to 0-4.

In the second half, Drumalee came more into the game and when Darragh Gaffney scored a goal after 47 minutes, Laragh’s lead was cut to four points. However, an opportunistic goal by Jason Walsh and a Cian O’Rourke point secured the win and a good start to the Breffni League. While both sides were short regulars, the work rate and score taking will please Gary Smith and his selectors in preparation for the next round V Ballymachugh.
